Hanging out with the boys...

I was able to spend some time with these boy's mom one afternoon. While she was inside making my daughter something to eat, we were able to get a few pictures for her. We worked together for many years and she will be moving soon. She is like a "big sister" to me and I miss her so much already! I love you Julie.

Just doing his job!

While I am in the classroom teaching second graders everyday, my husband is at the hospital helping others. What a joy it is to have a parent come up to you and tell you how much your husband helped her child. To explain the story more, a little boy needed an emergency surgery and Joel (he is on the right) performed his surgery. I asked the little boy if he remembered Joel and he said, "He was really nice." ;)
Below is a quote that I found that I thought fit for today's post:
"This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind...let it be something good."

Happy Valentine's Day

I have not posted anything in a while. I have been busy with my last month of pregnancy (4 weeks until the big day - but who is counting?), learning new techniques, trying to wrap up some last minute teaching things, designing a few new templates for my friend for her new baby, and doing a few photo sessions on the side. I hope to get some of those pictures posted in the next few days. Until then, I hope everyone has a happy Valentine's Day. We plan to take Ella to Build A Bear tomorrow and let her make a stuffed animal to give to her new baby brother when he gets here.

A Family Has Been Chosen...
One of my friends back home in Elizabeth City nominated a family to receive the free photo session and I cannot wait to meet them and take photographs of their family.
Here is their story from a friend that nominated them:
I would like to nominate the Mitchell family. As you know, their daughter has spinal muscular atrophy. They also have a daughter who is about 16. They host a ski a thon yearly that benefits the families of the SMA research fund. This family has endured so much. Their daughter was not expected to live past the age of 2. I think it is always nice to honor a family that has dealt with such challenges, particularly after such a long time. People tend to forget what they endure on a daily basis. Their daughter has nursing care every day in the home and of course does not attend public school...
I would like to thank Pam for nominating them and the Mitchell family for allowing me to do this.
